Workout room needs at least 2-3 yoga mats or floor mats.
Parts of the hotel show decay- rotted wood and areas in the rooms (bathrooms) where materials need to be replaced.
The rooms were cleans and comfortable so this is just a visual issue.
Value of the hotel is good, location is ideal for freeway and downtown Encinitas

Perfectly located to walk to coffee shops and restaurants and to drive all around SD. The place was clean and cute with a kitchenette. Easy to get new towels even without full service cleaning. Easy check out. Great spot-would stay again!
We loved Moonlight Beach and shopping in downtown Encinitas.
We loved Moonlight Beach and shopping in downtown Encinitas. The lunch places seem to get very crowded, so it's good to go early. Encinitas also has a big beautiful Target, which was very exciting for my daughter who lives in NYC (the Targets there aren't very nice). Driving around was really easy. Encinitas is a fun place to be a tourist, and it doesn't seem too touristy. I wish we had time to try many of the hiking spots nearby, but now we have a reason to come back.

The lack of customer response is very bad.
The lack of customer response is very bad. All communication from the hotel has the "no-reply-to" function. It's almost impossible to reach the hotel by email. And the phone costs from international locations a re prohibitive.

I liked the Mexican Restaurant La Especial Norte 644 N. Coast Highway 101. Awesome menu, awesome food, very reasonable compared to the other restaurants in this location. Service excellent. Friendly and professional. I had the Mexican Chicken Soup which was wonderful and the Beef Burrito which was very very large.

Didn’t like simple fact the manager(Gabriel) Knocked on my door trying to kick me and my family out that consists of a five year old stating something about a 21 max stay that we as guests aren’t allowed to go over but we wasn’t informed nor is it posted in the lobby made it s feel very uncomfortable after that then I was harassed by a guests for two straight days asking me for my card and why am standing by my car immediately let front desk know even provided a picture of the vehicle I wasn’t apologized for it and nothing was done about it then walk out to my car being scratched up I’ve seen so many roaches and spiders in my room it’s insane and they sure didn’t come with us I now clean my room I also pointed out to the head housekeeper about trash that’s been in my room since check in…The young lady that works nights is very nice and very professional

I think the hotel was in the midst of remodeling.
I think the hotel was in the midst of remodeling. There were building supplies all over the parking lot and two large containers blocking the parking spaces for guests. We still found parking however.
There was trash strewn everywhere and the elevator had no permit displayed and made dreadful creaking noises before finally opening the doors. It sounded like it might break at any minute.
The breakfast was good but limited to high sugar cereals, oatmeal packets, yogurt and bagels with butter. There was also some very nice fresh fruit and fruit juices to choose from.
Exceeded expectations. While a budget hotel, the room was well supplied with amenities such as a microwave and fridge, iron, desk, and dresser. Lovely bathroom tub with new fixtures and high quality beauty supplies. Bed was comfortable, and big screen TV offered entertainment if the beach was too cold, or on nights you want to stay inside. With health food store across the street, there was ample access to food options. Really liked the friendly and helpful front desk staff. Would definitely stay here again.
The rooms are large and you will more likely than not to get two king size beds. That is my experience each time. The live-in managers are accommodating and cordial. The hotel is set far enough away from the train tracks so you barely here the train when it passes. The room's window and door are open when empty so you can be certain that the air is fresh when you walk in. I've stayed at other hotels that don't do this and you can smell left over dinners or smoke or cleaning products.
This hotel was so bad, it was nothing like they advertised. Ocean view, what a joke. We had a view of the Motorway/Highway, and the noise was unbelievable. Their breakfast was nothing like they advertised. The bed was too soft, and their pillows were folded in half and lumpy. I had to open them flat. The towels were so small that you couldn't wrap them around your body, and I'm small. The bathroom door did not close, even asked if they could fix it, but they didn't.
We stayed overnight in Encinitas because my husband was in a surfing contest at Cardiff-By-The-Sea that weekend. Hampton by Hilton was close to the contest and convenient. The hotel is lovely and seems updated. The bed was extremely comfortable and when you see bright white sheets, blankets and a solid white bedspread, you know it's CLEAN. My name was on the TV screen, welcoming me when we arrived & that really tickled me! Breakfast was great and so was the coffee.
The hotel rates were reasonable, and the location made the trip more affordable than I thought it would be. There was a grocery store a few doors down which had everything we needed, and several reasonably-priced restaurants that were a short walk away. I love how the Amtrack train comes right through town (although in our room, we couldn't hear it or the traffic on the street, and we were facing the street).
Room was very big and clean. One of the best hotels I’ve stayed. Parking was tucked away from busy street and close to my room which I loved. Loved that I couldn’t hear through the walls like other hotels. Liked that the bed was in a separate part of room with doors of its own made me feel safe. Liked the balcony very much was large. Loved this hotel overall.
Location is awesome, walking distance to encinitas downtown, surfing spots and leucadia farmers market. Front desk guys were amazing (shout out to Todd and Mark, whom besides the sympathy, were always available). Cleaning team as well. The kitchen is pretty full of equipment needed to prepare meals. High pressure shower makes the stay even more confortable.
I loved Surfhouse and will stay again. The rooms are clean and well laid out with a beautiful bathroom, simple desk and everything I needed for a four night stay. Two outdoor areas for hanging out with friends worked for an outdoor office for me. Location is the best in Encinitas.
Likeable hotel, very conveniently located. Nothing fancy but comfortable, good value, with a nice friendly atmosphere, and the staff were all very helpful and charming. The pool is small but fine for cooling off.
Great value and good location. 10 minute walk to Moonlight beach / surf spots / Encinitas downtown. Next to decent supermarket. Free parking on site. Tea and coffee facilities, fridge and microwave in room.
